CAP
THE QUICK-WITTED ANCHOR
Pr: [he/they]
As the recognized leader, Cap is the big-brained shroom the community relies on for challenges too complex for their own caps. Cap is relentlessly practical and cautious, which makes Gill's presence a delightful liability. Gill is pure spontaneity, constantly dragging home dubious treasures—like the infamous cotton swab—from the Scrap Heap. Cap tries to maintain control, but Gill's mishaps (such as crying over a twitchy, fighting artifact) consistently disrupt Cap's careful planning, forcing them to step out of their calm shell to affectionately manage the mess.
Despite their wisdom, Cap has a small, rigid obsession with sorting and cataloging. Everything they own must be organized by size, material, and utility. They spend hours trying to label and arrange Gill's random, chaotic piles of findings, often inventing overly complex systems that Gill immediately dismantles by bringing home a new, bizarre item.
CUTE FACT:Cap communicates many of their exasperated, cautious, or fond internal thoughts to Gill through micro-movements of their own cap. A quick, barely perceptible tilt means "Absolutely not," while a gentle, low-frequency vibration-hum against the ground when Gill is close means, "I'm worried, but I'm proud of you." Gill is the only one who instinctively understands this secret, silent language.

Every successful adventure requires a good plan, a good heart, and a good friend to share it with.
GILL
THE LITTLE, SPONTANEOUS HEART
Pr: [he/they]
Gill is the fun, spontaneous heart of the duo, always ready to leap headfirst into an awefully crunchy pile of leaves. Though the Scrap Heap is a weird, wet, and sharp danger zone, Gill is irresistibly drawn to the "shiny stuff"—objects that vibrate with a peculiar energy when light hits them, giving off a warm, buzzing hum. While Cap handles the strategy, Gill uses their "Chaos Method"—a mix of enthusiastic brute force and pure luck—to fix things Cap’s meticulous plans couldn’t. Gill is also the Keeper of the Memories; they meticulously log every treasure, not by date, but by the emotional tag attached to the finding. This deep sentimentality is why they pitched the idea for this little blog, wanting to ensure the story of every adventure they share with Cap is kept safe.
Gill has an almost heroic faith in their own strength, always believing they can carry the biggest, shiniest objects. This leads to frequent and noisy "Great Transport Failures," where they'll attempt to drag a massive, half-rusted can or a ten-foot length of wire back to the burrow. These expeditions almost always end with Gill getting pinned beneath their prize until Cap, alerted by the tell-tale sound of muffled, ecstatic whimpering, has to come and strategically dislodge the "little one" and their latest useless treasure.
CUTE FACT:Gill is so genuinely over-exuberant about their discoveries that they often trigger a sneeze reflex from sheer excitement. When they find a particularly shiny or meaningful treasure, they don't just get happy, they "happy-sneeze," which results in a sudden, adorable, fine poof of bright, white spores exploding from their cap. Cap usually has to carefully dust themselves off afterward, but they recognize that a spore-poof means Gill has truly found something special.
